COVID-19 Policies
The following are steps that have been taken consistently across all our current construction sites in response to the current COVID-19 pandemic;
Physical Distancing
- Temporarily suspending meetings where physical distancing cannot be maintained (e.g. Monthly Site Safety Meetings)
- Restricting access to Site Office on an as-needed basis
- Limiting the number of workers in a construction hoist or elevator to 4
- Restricting travel directions in shared stairways (1 stairway for up, the other for down) where practicable
- Signage reminding workers to maintain 2 m physical distance
- Informational hardhat decals regarding physical distancing
Hygiene
- Provision of handwashing stations with soap and water
- Signage directing workers to handwashing stations
- Alcohol-based disinfectant in locations where handwashing is not readily available on site (e.g. at the construction hoist, in Site Offices without municipal water hookup)
- Dedicated labour staff conducting regular disinfection of common touch points on site (e.g. door handles, portable toilet doors)
- Providing infrared thermometers to all sites as a supplementary screening measure, along with Guideline for their use
Administrative Controls
- COVID-19 Site Orientation for all existing and new workers
- Signage instructing workers to stay home if feeling sick
- Guideline for handling workers returning after self-isolation
- Guidance for First Aid Attendants to limit contact with patients where possible and personal protective measures to be taken where close contact must be made
- Exterior site signage regarding COVID-19 prevention measures
